Aces for All with Autism

Clayton’s Shaw Park Tennis Center hosts camps for kids with Autism.

It started this past spring when Jake Bernstein, a senior at Clayton High School and resident of Clayton, contacted Clayton’s Parks & Recreation Department with an interest in offering a free tennis camp for children with Autism.  Jake’s idea was then quickly put into motion.

Parks & Recreation staff set up times and reserved courts at the Tennis Center for Aces for All with Autism; Free Tennis Camp.  The tennis camp, for children 6 through 10 with Autism, meets on Saturday mornings at Shaw Park Tennis Courts from 9 to 10 a.m.  The first week of camp was July 16 and was a huge success with 19 campers and 20 volunteers participating.  The camp will continue for two more weeks, July 30 and August 6. Clayton’s Parks & Recreation Department provides tennis racquets and tennis balls to facilitate the program.
