City Hires Community Resource Coordinator

The City of Clayton recently hired Sarah Umlauf to fill the newly created position of Community Resource Coordinator. Ms. Umlauf’s responsibilities include overseeing the operations of the city’s historic Martin Franklin Hanley House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and serving as staff liaison to the Century Foundation. The Century Foundation is a not for profit umbrella organization funded by private sources to support a variety of quality of life initiatives.
Ms. Umlauf’s work at the Hanley House includes performing research about the site, the artifacts and the family that once lived in the Greek revival farmstead. She is in the process of digitizing the museum’s collections including over 160 surviving family letters. She is actively creating a new volunteer program for the museum and looks forward to continued museum growth. Ms. Umlauf is dedicated to not only preserving the past but also ensuring the future of the 19th Century farmhouse located at 7600 Westmoreland Avenue in Clayton, Missouri.
Ms. Umlauf graduated from Washington University in St. Louis where she majored in Art History and Archaeology and Italian. She received a Master’s degree in Art History from the George Washington University. While attending graduate school, Sarah served as an intern for the National Gallery of Art and then became the museum supervisor for Carlyle House Historic Park – an 18th Century historic house museum in Alexandria, Virginia.
