City of Clayton begins search for new City Manager
Schoedel leaves for private sector
On Dec. 11, 2007, Clayton Mayor Linda Goldstein announced that City Manager Michael Schoedel will be leaving his position to accept an opportunity in the private sector. Schoedel will remain on the job until mid-February.
“Mike has served the City of Clayton admirably in his nearly four years as City Manager and he will be missed,” Goldstein said. “He has a very bright future ahead of him, and he believes now is the time to move from public service to private industry.”
Goldstein said the City will begin a national search for Schoedel’s replacement immediately so that the new City Manager can work closely with Schoedel on issues before the City.
“We expect a smooth transition, and all the aldermen and departmental employees are prepared to maintain the City’s high level of leadership in the months and years ahead,” she said.
Goldstein said a search committee of the City will accept applications for the position and will also seek candidates suggested by community leaders.
“We have a top quality City that deserves another first-rate City Manager as Mike has been,” she said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for someone with vision, management skills, an understanding of suburban and regional issues, and insight into the complex issues that confront our community.”
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve with all of you”, Schoedel told the Board at the Dec. 11 meeting. “I am also proud to have worked with an incredible staff that provides the exemplary services for which Clayton is so well known.”
During the search process, Deputy City Manager Lenore Toser-Aldaz will assume the role of Acting City Manager effective February 4, 2008.
