Clayton Century Foundation Announces Gifts from Enterprise Holdings, Inc.

Gifts will fund the Enterprise Holdings Pavilion in Clayton’s Shaw Park

The Clayton Century Foundation, a non-profit organization that serves as a private partner to the City of Clayton, is pleased to announce that Enterprise Holdings and the Enterprise Holdings Foundation have pledged gifts totaling $750,000 to be paid by the end of this calendar year to fund a community pavilion in Shaw Park.  Enterprise Holdings, Inc and its subsidiaries (Enterprise Holdings) own and operate the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, and the Enterprise Holdings Foundation is the company’s philanthropic arm.

The Clayton Century Foundation (CCF) in conjunction with the City of Clayton will use the gifts for the construction of the Enterprise Holdings Pavilion, to be built on the site of the current Clayton Corporate Tent facility.   The Pavilion is intended to include seating for 200 people, restrooms, an outdoor kitchen and a double-sided fireplace.  Construction is expected to begin in the next 18 months, in time to celebrate the City’s centennial in 2013.

CCF and the City have identified priority projects included in the City’s Master Plan for its parks, and Shaw Park has long been recognized as one of the premier destination points for recreation and relaxation.  Shaw Park is the City’s oldest and largest park, dedicated in 1937 and named for Charles A. Shaw, who served as Clayton’s sixth mayor.

The Pavilion will be connected to the new Shaw Park Recreational Trail, which has already received pledges for funding from Brown Shoe Company and the William T. Kemper Foundation – Commerce Bank, Trustee and the Commerce Bancshares Foundation, Moneta Group and the Moneta Group Charitable Foundation, in addition to funds through a Missouri Department of Natural Resources grant.

“We are proud to support this project, which has been on the wish list of the City Parks Department for a number of years,” says Tony Moise, vice president and general manager for Enterprise Holdings in St. Louis.  “Giving back to the communities where we operate is important to us, especially in Clayton where our corporate headquarters is located.”

“We are most appreciative of Enterprise Holdings’ generous gift and have no doubt that the pavilion will enhance the community experience for both businesses and residents,” states Gary Feder, President, Clayton Century Foundation.
