Clayton Partners with Old Newsboys

The City of Clayton recently forged a partnership with one of the oldest charitable organizations in St. Louis, the Old Newsboys Day.

Each year on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, thousands of volunteers don the Old Newsboys Day apron and take to the streets to raise money for several local children’s organizations.

Clayton officials recently met with Old Newsboys Day representatives to develop a new format for the event on November 17 in Clayton. Since a city ordinance prohibits street corner sales, volunteers will be working along some of the busiest sidewalks in the region. Approximately 46,000 individuals commute to work in Clayton each day. With many traversing downtown Clayton sidewalks, sidewalk sales will be booming.

“We are thrilled with the arrangement we have made with this amazing organization and look forward to the effect newspaper sales in Clayton will have on the overall contribution to charities,” said Clayton Mayor Linda Goldstein.

Now celebrating its 53rd campaign for children, Old Newsboys Day has raised more than $11 million to benefit more than 270 local children's charities.
