Clayton Prepares for Winter Storm

Severe weather makes closures and schedule changes necessary

The City is gearing up for the seventh major storm this winter.

Since late yesterday, Public Works and Parks & Recreation Department crews have been working continuously to keep streets passable.

Despite dedication to providing quality service, due to current and anticipated severe weather conditions, the City is finding it necessary to make adjustments to schedules.

The City has been notified by Allied Waste Management that residential waste collection service will not be provided today. Information about the adjusted waste collection schedule for the remainder of this week is available via the Emergency Weather Information page on the City’s website.

The Center of Clayton is closed today.  Tentative plans are for The Center to open at noon on Wednesday, February 2. The noon opening may be delayed if conditions worsen.  For the latest facility closure information, please call the Clayton Parks and Recreation Inclement Weather Hotline at 314-290-8561.

All programs from today through noon on Wednesday have been canceled.  Participants will receive a credit for the missed class.  Programs starting after noon on Wednesday will meet as scheduled unless otherwise noted in a news update.

Clayton City Hall closed at noon today.

The public is encouraged to visit the City’s website www.claytonmo.gov for updates on closures and further schedule adjustments. With blizzard warnings in effect until noon on Wednesday, February 2, the public is advised to check ongoing weather alerts on the Clayton Weather Forecast site available via the City website.
