Clayton Receives Certificate of Achievement for Financial Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of
Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Clayton for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended September 30, 2008. The Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports. To qualify for the Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily read and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. The report contents must conform to program standards, generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

Clayton has received a Certificate of Achievement for the last twenty-two consecutive years (fiscal years ended 1987-2008).

An impartial panel selects honorees who demonstrate a constructive spirit of full disclosure and clearly communicate their financial story to motivate potential users to read the CAFR.
