Deputy City Manager Takes Another Position

City Manager Craig Owens announced that Clayton’s Deputy City Manager Lenore Toser-Aldaz would be leaving the City effective April 14, 2011. She has accepted a position as Assistant City Administrator with the City of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Ms. Toser-Aldaz took the position as Clayton’s Assistant City Manager in February 2000 after having served as Assistant County Administrator for Johnson County, Kansas. She was promoted to Deputy City Manager in 2006. At various times throughout her tenure as Assistant and Deputy City Manager, she supervised the Human Resources and Communications Departments, and assisted with day-to-day administration of the City’s Finance, Fire, IT, Parks & Recreation, Planning & Development Services, Police and Public Works Departments. She has been directly involved in the City’s strategic planning, annual budget preparations and economic development activities. During her tenure in Clayton, she capably took the reins as Acting City Manager twice, while the City conducted searches for new City Managers in 2003 and 2008.

“Personally and professionally our team in Clayton will miss her greatly.  Lenore is a great talent and has contributed not just to the Clayton community and our municipal organization, but to our City Management Profession.  Her capabilities offer many opportunities for her career and the O’Fallon opportunity offers that next challenge,” said City Manager Owens. “Though this is a huge hole, the systems, processes and quality of the work she leaves behind actually make the transition much less disruptive than it might have been.”

“This was not an easy decision as I have enjoyed working for Clayton tremendously,” said Ms. Toser-Aldaz. “Clayton is an exceptional community, and the professionalism and dedication of its elected officials and management team/staff are first-rate. Although I will miss Clayton, I look forward to the opportunity to work for another high quality community.”

City Manager Craig Owens indicates that an analysis of the position and management structure will precede any recruitment.
