Presentation by local expert Mark Goldfeder kicks off 2011 Clayton Century Foundation History Lecture Series

CCF History, a group dedicated to preserving the history of Clayton, will sponsor its second annual lecture series beginning with a presentation at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011.  Mr. Mark Goldfeder will discuss the history of Streetcars in St. Louis, with particular attention to lines operating through Clayton, Missouri.

Mark Goldfeder was born in March of 1951, and his family lived at the intersection of Etzel and Hamilton Avenues in west end St. Louis, Missouri. As early as he could remember, he witnessed St. Louis Public Service Co. streetcars and buses operating by his residence. From that time on, city transit operations in and around St. Louis became a life-long hobby.

Mr. Goldfeder is a graduate of Parks College of St.Louis University and has a BS degree in Transportation. He is currently the president of the St.Louis Railway Enthusiasts, Inc., and also a current board member of the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri. Mark Goldfeder is also a founding member of the American Truck Historical Society-Gateway Chapter of Missouri-Illinois and a member of the Motor Bus Society.

Mr. Goldfeder has co-authored a series of six books that cover St.Louis Transit Operations with friend, Andrew D.Young.  The most popular of the series, "Streets & Streetcars of St. Louis- a Sentimental Journey," is currently available and contains the most complete photo collection of transit lines within the city of Clayton, Missouri.
