Taste of Clayton
In 2008, charitable contributions reach $1 million
July 31, 2008
On the first Sunday in June each year, the fabulous food festival Taste of Clayton attracts nearly 35,000 guests to Shaw Park. In addition to the tempting specialties from the area’s top restaurants and Taste, Jr., the everything for kids area, live music is performed throughout the day and evening. At 9:00 p.m., the festivities were capped off with a crowd-pleasing fireworks extravaganza.
The excitement doesn’t stop on Sunday. Each year, charitable organizations are selected to share the event proceeds. At the wrap up celebration on July 30, the 2008 beneficiaries, Lift for Life, St. Vincent’s Ministries, and the Clayton Park Foundation, received donation checks that brought the total contributed since the event’s inception in 1993 to over three quarters of a million. “We could not have accomplished all that we have without the Taste of Clayton,” said Marshall Cohen Founder and Executive Director of the Lift for Life Academy and Gym.
The planning doesn’t stop either. Taste of Clayton coordinators are already working on details for the 2009 event, which is set for Sunday, June 7.
