Small Business Spotlight: The Curtain Exchange of St. Louis

Publish Date:10/17/2017 2:30 PM

When it comes to finding the perfect treatment for windows in your space, The Curtain Exchange of St. Louis has you covered. Since 2005, this small Clayton business has been helping people across St. Louis find the perfect ready-made curtains to fit their unique style. Barbara Prentice, an interior designer with The Curtain Exchange, explains: “the service is really an A to Z process. Some customers come to us with a vision in mind and we help with execution. Others invite us into their home or business to walk through the area and help to create the vision. Once we have the vision, though, we take care of everything from ordering the supplies to installing the product.”

Although The Curtain Exchange now offers a total design service with all of their products –custom drapes, soft shades, top treatments, blinds, drapery hardware, custom bedding, upholstery and accessories – it hasn’t always been this way. When The Curtain Exchange’s owner, Ellen Ross, purchased the franchise 12 years ago, she and Barbara focused solely on curtains. It wasn’t until approximately 2012 that the business broadened its horizons and began to offer full service design work. The pair is most proud of their work on the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis and The Crescent and The Plaza condominiums in Clayton.

Ellen and Barbara both agree that, in addition to the unique projects that they’ve had the opportunity to be a part of, the best part about their job is getting to meet and become friends with so many of their clients. Because many of them are repeat customers, they are able to establish rapport and trust, both of which are key to success in any business. If you are looking to spice up your current window treatments or are shopping around for a new space, we encourage you to visit The Curtain Exchange. We’re confident that you’ll find exactly what you are looking for…and more!
