Clayton Fire Department raises money for St Baldrick's

Publish Date:03/12/2018 8:27 PM

The Fire Department would like to congratulate the Clayton Fire Community Outreach team in their participation in the St Baldrick’s Fundraiser this past Saturday at Helen Fitzgerald’s.  The 11-person team was comprised of members of the Clayton Fire Department and their families as well as one team member from a neighboring fire department.  The team was the idea of Dave Dewitt who served as Team Captain for the event.

The team set a lofty fundraising goal of $4,500 for their first time out and was able to surpass that by raising a total of $5,290 with their online efforts.  “Thanks to a 20-year mustache and a couple sets of eyebrows we were able to collect another couple hundred dollars during the event,” Dewitt said.

The unofficial amount collected for the event total is $482,022, but while at the event the organizers stated they were already over $500K before leaving Saturday.  Out of the 65 teams that participated in the event the Clayton team placed 20 on their inaugural effort.

When asked if the team was happy with their new haircuts, Dewitt smiled and said, “All members involved loved participating and are already looking to do it again. We look forward to doing it again next year and looking to double our fundraising goal.”
