Police Weekly Activity Report: May 7 – 13
On Monday, May 7, at 1:08 pm, a mountain bike was stolen from an open garage on the 7700 block of W. Biltmore. The suspect was recorded on the victim’s home surveillance system. Refer to the Nextdoor post on May 8 for additional information about this incident.
On Tuesday at 7:47 am, a vehicle caught on fire in the parking garage at 222 S. Meramec. The response from emergency personnel caused S. Meramec to be shut down for a short period of time. The damage was limited to the one vehicle. Fire Department personnel determined that the fire was started by mechanical problems with the car.
On Tuesday at 5:45 am, a male suspect shoplifted several items from CVS and fled the area in a red Acura waiting in the parking lot.
On Thursday at 7:08 pm, a male suspect shoplifted a power tool from the Home Depot in Brentwood. He fled the scene on the Metrolink. Clayton officers boarded the train when it arrived at our Metrolink station. The suspect was detained with the stolen merchandise. He was then turned over to the custody of the Brentwood PD.
On Friday at 1:02 am, a driver was arrested for DWI during a traffic stop on the Forest Park Parkway at I-170.
On Friday at 9:15 pm, three relatives, a man and two women, were involved in a physical altercation on the parking lot of Barnes-Jewish Extended Care at 401 Corporate Park. Two of the individuals were arrested for Domestic Assault.
On Saturday at 11:19 pm, an officer stopped a vehicle traveling 85 mph on Big Bend. The roadside investigation determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Felony DWI, since he had prior alcohol-related driving convictions. The breathalyzer test determined that his blood alcohol by content was over 2.5 times the legal limit. The following morning a judge signed an arrest warrant for the driver with a $10,000 bond.
On Sunday at 1:40 am, a traffic stop at S. Brentwood and Carondelet resulted in the driver being arrested for DWI. The driver was also charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Sunday at 4:45 am, an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-170. The driver told the officer he was speeding to get his wife to the hospital because she was going into labor. When the officer called for an ambulance on the police radio, the wife spoke up and told the officer she was not pregnant. A roadside investigation determined the driver was intoxicated and he was subsequently arrested for DWI. Since he had prior DWI arrests, he was charged with a felony. The driver refused to take a breath test, so a search warrant to take a blood sample was signed by a judge.
On Sunday, a bike was reported stolen from a backyard in the 6400 block of Alamo. The time of occurrence was between Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 10 am.
During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded to 591 calls for service, which included 30 automobile accidents and 45 calls to assist the Fire Department.
