Police Weekly Incident Report: June 18 - 24
On Monday, June 18, at 8:34 am, a vehicle was reported stolen on Arundel. The theft occurred sometime during the prior two weeks while the victim was out of town. The keys were left in the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered by officers at Wellston Metrolink station in the early morning hours on Sunday.
On Monday, officers responded to CVS for a stealing in progress. The officers located the suspect and arrested him at the Richmond Heights Metrolink station with the stolen merchandise. The suspect was already wanted by the Clayton PD for a prior stealing report at Walgreens.
On Wednesday at 9:00 pm, officers responded to the area of Wellington Way and Westwood for a report of an intoxicated male subject lying on the sidewalk with an open container of beer. The subject, who had soiled himself, was uncooperative and belligerent. He was arrested for Consuming Alcohol on a Public Sidewalk, Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, and Resisting Arrest.
On Thursday at 1:00 am, a vehicle lost control on the ramp from westbound Forest Park Parkway to southbound I-170, crossed over into the adjacent exit lane from I-170, and then came to a rest after striking the guardrail. The driver was arrested for DWI after the accident investigation revealed that he was impaired. The driver’s blood alcohol by content was more than twice the legal limit.
On Thursday at 7:35 pm, an assault report was taken at the Center of Clayton. An adult male suspect grabbed and pushed the referee over a disagreement about a technical foul that was called during the game.
On Friday at 12:07 am, a male victim reported being assaulted by his girlfriend in their room at the Sheraton Hotel. The female suspect left prior to the officers’ arrival.
On Friday at 1:28 pm, an abandoned Roadmaster bicycle was seized at the Center of Clayton.
On Friday at 4:09 pm, a male suspect attempted to steal food items from CVS. When a store employee confronted him, the suspect threatened to beat up the employee. The suspect then threw a stolen bag of peanuts and a beef jerky at the employee before running away. The suspect was arrested by officers in the area of S. Brentwood and Clayton Rd, and he was charged with Stealing and Assault.
On Saturday at 4:30 am, an officer checking on a car parked on the shoulder of I-170 found the driver asleep inside. The driver was identified as a suspect wanted out of Tennessee for Felony Bad Check crimes and Evading Arrest.
On Saturday morning, Clayton officers responded to the Galleria to assist the Richmond Heights PD with an assault involving a knife. Later in the afternoon, Clayton officers responded back to the Galleria to assist with a large fight.
On Sunday, a resident on the 6300 block of Ellenwood reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and items inside the vehicle were moved, but nothing was missing.
During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded to 563 calls for service, including 23 automobile accidents and 39 calls to assist the Fire Department.
