Police Weekly Incident Report: September 3 – 9

On Tuesday at 4 pm, a male suspect stole $2300 in eyeglass frames from an optometry store at 950 Francis Place.  An officer in the area saw the suspect being chased by an employee.  The officer chased the suspect down and placed him under arrest.  He was charged with Felony Stealing and Resisting Arrest.  A record check of the suspect revealed he was wanted by four other police departments in three different counties in the metropolitan area for felony stealing. 

On Wednesday at 2 pm, a victim reported tools stolen from the bed of his pickup truck, which was parked for several hours in the surface lot across from the County Jail. 

On Thursday at 12:10 am, a suspect shoplifted diapers and body wash from Walgreens.  He was located near the store and arrested.

On Thursday at 4:46 pm, on the 400 block of S. Hanley, Clayton officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by a suspect who had just been observed stealing money from a business in Richmond Heights.  Richmond Heights PD responded to the scene and took custody of the suspect. 

 On Friday at 6:40 pm, a male suspect dined and dashed at IHOP.  He was identified by the job application he submitted to the manager prior to the theft.  This matter should be resolved soon.

On Friday at 6:47 pm, a report was taken for a bicycle stolen from an apartment building’s garage on the 8100 block of Whitburn.  The theft occurred during the prior two weeks.

On Sunday night, a report was made for property stolen from three unlocked vehicles in Davis Place.  Other unlocked vehicles in the area were rifled through with nothing reported missing.  Video surveillance from a resident shows the suspect entering a vehicle around 11:45 pm. 

During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded 451 calls, including 27 automobile accidents and 35 calls to assist the Fire Department.
