Police Weekly Incident Report: December 24 - 30
On Tuesday at 3:40 am, a driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting a possum on the Forest Park Parkway. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a sign, a fence, and a tree. Neither the driver nor the possum suffered any injuries.
During the overnight hours, from Monday night through Tuesday morning, a door to an apartment on the 7500 block of Byron was reported damaged. The apartment was not entered by any suspects.
On Thursday at 10:00 pm, five females (ages 15 - 19) dined and dashed from IHOP. They were stopped by officers a short distance from the restaurant. The girls returned to IHOP to pay the bill with money they had in their possession. IHOP declined to press charges once the bill was paid.
On Friday at 6:00 pm, officers responded to Walgreens for a report of a male and female couple injecting heroin in a car on the parking lot. The couple’s two children were in the backseat of the car. The officer seized numerous capsules of fentanyl and used hypodermic needles during a search of the car. The two adults were arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. The children were evaluated at a local hospital to ensure they were not exposed to the drugs. The children were then released to a responsible relative. The case was also reported to the Missouri Department of Social Services.
On Friday at 11:15 pm, a traffic stop at Francis Place and S. Brentwood resulted in a DWI arrest.
On Sunday at 2:00 pm, a suspicious car stop at Walgreens resulted in the arrest of two male suspects who were trying to return stolen merchandise for cash. The suspects were employing the scheme of finding discarded receipts, shoplifting items on the receipts, and then trying to return the items for cash or credit. Numerous shoplifted items were seized from their vehicle. One of the suspects received an additional booking charge for felony drug possession when heroin was found on him.
On Sunday at 5:15 pm, a traffic stop on S. Brentwood and Shaw Park Dr. resulted in the driver being arrested for fugitive charges from St. Louis City for Kidnapping and Domestic Assault. A loaded handgun and marijuana were found in his car, which resulted in additional criminal violations for unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.
During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded to 378 calls for service, including 12 motor vehicle accidents and 39 calls to assist the Fire Department.
