Weekly Wrap-Up January 21, 2019
This week the City of Clayton Fire Department
- Responded to 46 calls for service (22 Fire/Rescue & 24 Emergency Medical responses)
- Accumulated 170 hours of training
- Completed 4 Commercial fire and life safety building inspections
This week’s safety message is: The cold weather has set in here in Clayton. The NFPA reports heating equipment is the leading cause of fires in U.S. homes. The leading factor contributing to ignition for home fire heating deaths(54%) was heating equipment too close to thing that can burn, such as upholstered furniture, clothing, mattresses, or bedding. Please remember to keep anything a safe distance (3 feet) from all fireplaces, furnaces, water heaters, or portable heaters.
The Clayton Fire Department exists to help prepare our community for emergencies, support people when overwhelmed, and care for them in their time of need. We want to provide a safe environment for our citizens and guests to enjoy our community and all it has to offer.
