Police Weekly Incident Report: January 14 - 20

On Monday, a Clayton detective was assigned to the Major Case Squad murder investigation in Overland, MO.

On Tuesday, a resident reported that she was victimized by an email scam. She responded to an email asking for personal information. A few days later she received a check in the mail from the scammer. She was directed by the scammer to deposit the check and then use the proceeds to buy Apple gift cards. She photographed the numbers on the gift cards and sent the photos to the scammer. After the photos were sent, the victim was notified by the bank that the check did not clear because it was fraudulent. The victim is now out the amount she paid for the gift cards.

On Tuesday at 11:20 pm, a traffic stop on S. Brentwood Blvd at Clayton Rd resulted in a suspected drug dealer being arrested. The suspect was found in possession of 114 grams of marijuana, a small scale, and a loaded 9mm handgun. The suspect was booked for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

On Wednesday, a report was received of an unlocked car rummaged through in the area of Glenridge and Byron during the overnight hours. Nothing was missing.

On Thursday, between 4:15 – 4:30 pm, a suspect broke into a car parked near Fauquier and DeMun and took a tote bag. The suspect shattered a window to make entry.

On Friday morning, Clayton officers responded to the St. Louis County Jail to investigate the death of an inmate. On Saturday at 4pm, two teenagers dined and dashed from IHOP. The two suspects were part of a larger group who had paid for their own meals.

On Sunday at 1:37 pm, Clayton officers responded to the Galleria to assist the Richmond Heights PD for a report of gunshots. No suspects or victims were located.

During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded to 381 calls for service, including 26 automobile accidents and 26 calls to assist the Fire Department.

The next Coffee with a Cop will be Saturday, February 23 at the Center of Clayton, from 8:00 to 9:30 am. This will be our first Coffee with a Cop held on a Saturday. Over the last three years, we’ve received a lot of requests to hold this event on a Saturday to accommodate people who can’t attend on a weekday.
