Weekly Wrap Up March 25, 1019

Publish Date:03/25/2019 12:46 PM

This week the City of Clayton Fire Department:

  • Responded to 49 calls for service (27 Fire/Rescue & 22 Emergency Medical responses)
  • Accumulated 255.5 hours of training
  • Completed 31 Commercial fire and life safety building inspections
  • Participated in 51 hours of public education and community service

This week’s safety message is:  The Clayton Fire Department is proud to serve the citizens of Clayton with car seat installation services.  Each of our crews have certified car seat installation technicians, who are taught using the Safe Kids curriculum.  Safe Kids is viewed as the highest rated program for injury prevention in children as it relates to automobile accidents.  Our technicians recertify every 2 years with Safe Kids to ensure that they are kept up to date on the newest science, trends, car seats, and safety devices.

Appointments are available for the citizens of Clayton to have their car seats installed 7 days a week, at the times of 4:00pm and 6:00pm Monday thru Friday and 9:00am and 10:00am on weekends.  These appointments help make sure that you will be here at a time when technicians should be available, barring emergency calls that our members respond on.

During your appointment, your technician will go over the safety features of your particular seat, how to appropriately size your child in the seat, how to secure your seat in the vehicle, and other very important safety points involving the car seat and child.  They will also go over the next steps in car seats and what to prepare for as your child grows.  The Clayton Fire Department is proud to educate the public in this important program, and wants to make sure that you are comfortable installing a car seat on your own after you leave the appointment.

The Clayton Fire Department exists to help prepare our community for emergencies, support people when overwhelmed, and care for them in their time of need.  We want to provide a safe environment for our citizens and guests to enjoy our community and all it has to offer.

If you have any further questions about the Clayton Fire Department or programs that we offer, please feel free to contact Fire Captain/Public Information Officer Ryan Harrell at (314)285-5733 or RHarrell@ClaytonMo.gov.
