Police Weekly Incident Report: April 29 – May 5

On Monday morning, a theft was reported from an unlocked vehicle on the 6300 block of Forsyth. The theft occurred during the overnight hours.

On Tuesday at 5:15 am, three male suspects were arrested on the 100 block of N. Central for stealing from unlocked cars. A fourth suspect ran from the scene as the arresting officer approached. The suspects took property from unlocked vehicles in the Clayton Gardens and Old Town neighborhoods. Property seized from the suspects included laptop computers, money, and sunglasses. The laptop computers were returned to the owner. The arrested suspects were ages 17, 15, and 15.

On Tuesday at 1:20 pm, a female suspect was arrested at Commerce Bank for attempting to use a stolen identification to withdraw money from an account.

On Thursday at 12:05 am, a traffic stop resulted in a DWI arrest at Maryland and Gay.

On Thursday morning, an unlocked vehicle was found rummaged through on the 6600 block of Alamo. A small amount of money was taken.

On Saturday at 2:52 am, a Clayton officer observed a vehicle stopped on the exit from southbound I-170 onto Ladue Rd in Ladue’s jurisdiction. The officer exited his vehicle and observed the driver appeared to have been drinking heavily and was passed out with his foot on the break. The officer also observed a handgun on the driver’s lap with his hand on it. A check of the registration revealed the driver had felony convictions, including weapons offenses. He was arrested in March for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Ladue officers and more Clayton officers arrived to assist. Officers used their vehicles to box the suspect in. When they woke him up, he let his foot off the brake and rolled into the police car in front of him. He then reversed his vehicle in an attempt to leave, but he struck the police car behind him. The suspect eventually exited his vehicle and surrendered without anyone getting hurt.

On Saturday morning, a report was taken for property taken from unlocked vehicles on the 8100 block of Kingsbury. A residential surveillance camera showed the incident occurred at 4:25 am.

On Saturday at 2:45 pm, a traffic stop at Clayton and Hanley Rd. resulted in the arrest of the driver for possession of methamphetamine.

On Saturday at 6:50 pm, an unlocked vehicle at Wilson Lighting, 909 S. Brentwood, was rummaged through but nothing was missing.

During this reporting period, the Clayton PD responded to 491 calls for service, including 19 motor vehicle accidents and 36 calls to assist the Fire Department.
