Weekly Incident Report July 1-July 7th

For the reporting period of Monday, July 1st - Sunday, July 7th, Clayton Police officers responded to 424 calls for service, including 15 automobile accidents, 27 calls to assist the Fire Department & 7 fireworks complaints. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Monday evening, a resident reported receiving text messages from someone demanding money. Thankfully they recognized the texts as a scam and no money was exchanged.

Early Tuesday morning, 4 subjects, 2 men & 2 women, left IHOP without paying for their meals.

Tuesday evening a resident in the 900 block of Concordia reported a patio table was stolen between the hours of noon and 5:30pm.

Later that night, a juvenile subject reported he and his friends stored their bicycles in an alley way in the 7800 block of Forsyth while they dined at a local restaurant. After the meal he discovered his bicycle was stolen.

Wednesday morning, a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Haley Rd. resulted in the arrest of the passenger for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday night, officers assisted with traffic control in the area of Clayton Rd. & Audubon after a vehicle struck a pole, resulting in downed power lines.

Thursday night, the 4th of July, into Friday morning, officers were BUSY!

Thursday evening officers assisted Richmond Heights PD on a traffic stop where a suspected intoxicated driver was resisting arrest.

Later, a pedestrian check at the MetroLink garage resulted in the arrest of a subject for urinating in public and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Early Friday morning, officers responded to the area of Forest Park Parkway & I-170 for a single vehicle accident. Investigation revealed the subject found operating the vehicle when officers arrived was not the driver at the time of the accident. Both subjects were intoxicated & were arrested for DWI.

Shortly afterward, investigation of a single vehicle accident in the 8000 block of Clayton Rd. resulted in the arrest of the driver for DWI.

Later Friday morning, an attorney in the 8000 block of Carondelet Ave. requested assistance with an animal complaint. The attorney reported finding a squirrel in a filing cabinet and locking it inside the office. No humans or animals were harmed during the call.

Saturday morning, officers contacted construction crews on 2 residential sites and reminded them of the need for weekend construction permits. Work was stopped without incident.

Saturday evening a male subject stole 3 cartons of sushi from Straubs. He was located nearby and issued a summons for court.

Sunday morning a resident reported persons unknown fraudulently used his debit card to purchase airfare online. He was in possession of his debit card and was unsure when or where his card could have been compromised.

Four unlocked vehicles in the 400 block of Edgewood & the 7500 block of Cromwell were discovered to have been rifled through overnight. Nothing of value was reported missing.

Lastly, our officers appreciated the opportunities to celebrate Independence Day with our community.
