A Sustainable Plan for the Pumpkin Tree
The Pumpkin Tree and Sustainability
What are they going to do with all of those pumpkins? This is a question the City was asked often when it came to the removal of the pumpkin tree this month. With the help and suggestions from both the City's Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments, as well as ideas from the Clayton Sustainability Advisory Committee, the City has created an easy, sustainable, and a rather heartwarming, plan to make sure the pumpkins from the Pumpkin Tree are disposed of properly.
As the display is being broken down, the pumpkins will be sorted out based on whether or not they are rotten. The rotten pumpkins will be disposed of along with the leaves that are being collected City wide. The pumpkins that are still in tact and in good shape will be donated to the St. Louis Zoo for the animals to either play with or snack on!
We are excited to team up with the St. Louis Zoo to provide the animals with a fun, festive and rather delicious treat for them to enjoy during this chilly fall season.
