Drone (Unmanned Aircraft System) Information
An Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), commonly referred to as a drone, is an aircraft operated without a pilot onboard and controlled remotely by an operator on the ground. Drone operators are responsible for understanding and complying with all rules and regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These regulations apply to both recreational and commercial drone use.
FAA Rules and Requirements
The FAA’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Rule (Part 107) outlines requirements for many types of drone operations. A summary of these rules is available on the FAA's website.

“B4UFLY” Mobile App
The FAA also offers a free smartphone app called B4UFLY (Before You Fly). This app helps drone operators determine whether there are any airspace restrictions, advisories, or requirements at a specific location before flying.
The B4UFLY app provides:
-
Real-time airspace information
-
Temporary flight restrictions
-
Location-based safety guidance
Drone operators are strongly encouraged to use this app prior to operating a drone.
