Publish Date:02/09/2026 3:17 PM

For the reporting period of Monday, February 2nd – Sunday, February 8th, your CPD Officers responded to 446 calls for service, including 19 vehicle crashes and 50 requests to assist other agencies. Among those calls were the following incidents:

In the early morning hours on Monday, Officers were called to the northbound lanes of I-170 at Clayton Rd. for a single-vehicle crash. The driver stated he had lost control of his vehicle after hitting a patch of ice on the interstate. The car struck the concrete median and sustained significant front-end damage. It was later towed from the scene. Thankfully, neither the driver nor his passenger was injured in the crash.

While on patrol late Monday night, a CPD Officer observed a vehicle with what appeared to be an expired license plate, driving westbound on Clayton Rd. A computer inquiry revealed that the license plate had expired in 2024, and the Officer initiated a traffic stop, stopping the car in the 6600 block of Clayton Rd. As he spoke with the driver, the Officer learned the Richmond Heights Police Department wanted the man for Stealing a Motor Vehicle. The warrant was confirmed as active, and the man was arrested. Additionally, he was issued summonses for the expired license plate and for driving without a valid license. He has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court. He was later released to RHPD regarding their warrant.

A resident of the 6300 block of Southwood Ave. awoke Tuesday morning to discover someone had broken the passenger side window of her vehicle. Upon closer inspection, she discovered her wallet had been stolen from the center console. No suspects or witnesses have been identified. The investigation continues.

That afternoon, a CPD Traffic Officer was on patrol in the central business district when he noticed a vehicle with a suspicious license plate. He initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who verbally identified himself and stated he did not have his driver’s license with him. During his investigation, the Officer determined that the man had provided a fictitious identity and had a suspended license. He was subsequently arrested for Giving False Information to Police, Driving While Suspended, Failure to Register his vehicle, and not having insurance. He has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.

A short time later, Officers responded to the intersection of Forsyth Blvd. and Jackson Ave. after a witness requested they check on the welfare of a pedestrian in the roadway. They expressed concern after hearing the woman yelling at passersby. Officers found the woman walking in the center lane of Forsyth and instructed her to move to the sidewalk, but she refused. Because her behavior forced motorists to swerve around her, the Officers escorted the woman to the sidewalk, where she continued to yell and refused to comply, creating a disturbance. She was subsequently arrested for Interfering with Traffic and Failure to Obey Police. She has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.

Staff at a local hotel requested assistance on Wednesday afternoon. They explained that an unknown man had caused a disturbance in the lobby and had been asked to leave. The man had complied, but he had continued to yell as he stood outside the hotel’s garage. As they awaited the Officers’ arrival, an employee witnessed the man enter a nearby delivery truck and attempt to drive away. When he could not place the truck in gear, the man exited and began walking northbound on N. Meramec. Officers found the man walking in University City’s jurisdiction and arrested him for Burglary 2nd. The case will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration.

A traffic stop late on Wednesday night led to the arrest of a passenger when Officers learned the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department wanted him for making Terroristic Threats. The entry was confirmed, and the man was transported to the St. Louis County Justice Center to await further from the SLMPD.

Officers responded to the 6400 block of Cecil Ave. on Thursday afternoon for a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident. A woman explained she had parked her car on the street that afternoon. When she returned approximately an hour later, she discovered fresh damage on her driver’s side headlight and front bumper. No suspects or witnesses have been identified. The investigation continues.

Officers were called to CVS late Friday night for a reported larceny. Employees explained that a man had stolen several bottles of alcohol from the store and was last seen leaving as the passenger of a small, white SUV. The vehicle had driven away before the Officers arrived on the scene. The investigation continues.

Finally, Officers responded to the 200 block of N. Meramec on Sunday afternoon regarding a report of trespassers at a construction site. Upon their arrival, they observed a man and a woman inside the restricted area, with the man attempting to break into a locked supply closet. When they noticed the Officers, both individuals ran away. Officers searched the area and could not locate the woman. They found the man nearby and arrested him. The investigation is ongoing and will be presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney for consideration.
