Officers were called to the intersection of S. Central and Bonhomme for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Monday morning. The driver explained that she had been stopped in the southbound lanes of S. Central at a red light, waiting to make a right onto Bonhomme. She stated she had not seen anyone in the intersection and had proceeded to turn into the intersection where her passenger side mirror struck the juvenile pedestrian. The pedestrian’s mother explained that she and her child had waited for the pedestrian signal to activate before entering the crosswalk, and that the vehicle’s mirror struck the child. The child was evaluated on the scene by EMS personnel, and the mother stated she would follow up with their pediatrician as a precaution.

Later Monday morning, a contractor reported a vehicle had left the scene of an accident. He explained he had parked his truck and trailer on the Walgreens parking lot while he completed maintenance on the building. As he worked, he witnessed a red minivan strike his trailer. The driver did not attempt to contact him or exchange any information before driving away, heading eastbound through the alley. The investigation continues.

Officers responded to the intersection of Big Bend and Clayton Rd. on Monday afternoon for a vehicle crash with injuries. A woman explained she had been stopped in traffic when her vehicle was struck from behind. She complained of back pain, but advised that she would seek medical attention on her own. The other driver stated he had mistakenly believed traffic had begun to move, and he accelerated, causing him to strike the car in front of him. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Later that afternoon, Officers were called to the 200 block of S. Meramec for a report of someone trespassing. The Facility Supervisor at an apartment building explained he had observed a man and a woman walking near the building’s generator early that morning. When he investigated further, he discovered an unauthorized campsite on their property. Additionally, he noticed that it appeared someone had been tampering with the building’s generator and using it to charge their electronic devices.

Officers continued to monitor the area. On Tuesday night, they found the campsite occupied by the same man and woman, and they arrested them. During a search of the woman’s purse, Officers found several prescription bottles with the labels removed. She claimed the medications belonged to her; however, her claims could not be verified. The pair admitted to living in the campsite and were arrested for Property Damage 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief, and Tampering 2nd Degree. Additionally, they were warned they would be charged with trespassing if they returned to the property. The case has been forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration.

CVS employees requested assistance on Tuesday afternoon after a man stole items from the store. They explained that the man had filled a cart with merchandise and pushed it out the door. He was last seen walking toward the Galleria. Responding Officers found the man and the stolen cart near the mall. When confronted, he admitted to stealing from CVS. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the store. As they inventoried his belongings, they discovered items he admitted he had stolen from the Galleria. This case will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of charges for Stealing 4th or Subsequent Offense and Receiving Stolen Property. He was released to the Richmond Heights Police Department in reference to their investigation.

On Wednesday morning, a resident called to report that an Amazon package had been stolen from her front porch. She explained the delivery had been stolen on February 17th, and a neighbor’s surveillance cameras had captured the theft. Video footage showed a female in a black Chevrolet Avalanche had stolen the package. A second female was seated in the truck's front passenger seat. They were last seen driving northbound on N. Brentwood. No additional suspects or witnesses have been identified.

That afternoon, Officers responded to the 6300 block of N. Rosebury regarding a burglary that had just been discovered. Upon closer inspection, she discovered that her belongings had been rummaged through, and hundreds of dollars' worth of clothing and equipment had been stolen. Officers searched the area and determined someone had forced entry into the basement by breaking a window pane in the exterior door. No suspects or witnesses have been identified. The investigation continues.

A short time later, Officers returned to the intersection of Big Bend Blvd. and Clayton Rd. for a vehicle crash involving a heavy-duty truck. The driver of the truck reported he had been driving northbound through the intersection when the passenger vehicle to his right had entered his lane and struck the passenger side of the truck. A resident of the Moorlands neighborhood contacted the CPD on Thursday night to report her vehicle had been damaged overnight. She explained she suspected someone had been tampering with her vehicle and had proactively installed a dash camera. She stated that her low tire pressure light came on while she was driving to work on Thursday morning, and she had taken it to a local shop for repairs. Upon reviewing footage from her dash camera, she observed an SUV park in front of her vehicle in the early morning hours. The driver, an unfamiliar man, retrieved an unknown object and approached her car. The man was last seen walking toward a nearby residence. The investigation continues.

Later that night, Officers received multiple complaints from callers who suspected that teens were hosting a large house party without permission or adult supervision. Officers searched the area and, upon determining the source of the noise, made contact with the homeowner. They confirmed they were hosting a celebration for their teens and acknowledged the noise was causing a disturbance. Officers explained they had received complaints and informed the homeowner they would be cited if the noise continued. The homeowner stated they understood and commented that Officers would likely be back.

Not long after they issued their warning, Officers received additional noise complaints related to the gathering. They returned to the home and observed multiple juveniles actively consuming alcoholic beverages in plain view. Officers stood by to ensure the safety of the juvenile attendees as the party was dispersed without further incident. The homeowner was subsequently issued summonses for Failure to Supervise and Excessive Noise. They have an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.

Officers responded to a restaurant in the central business district on Friday evening for a report of an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. While responding to the restaurant, an Officer discovered a woman lying face down in the roadway and immediately blocked traffic to render aid. As EMS personnel assessed the woman’s injuries, Officers learned she was the same subject who had been reportedly causing a disturbance. As they continued to evaluate her, the woman became increasingly belligerent, attempted to assault the first responders, and had to be physically restrained before they transported her to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was subsequently issued summonses for Assault 4th degree and for Disturbing the Peace. She has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.

A traffic stop later that night resulted in the driver’s arrest when Officers discovered the man had suspected narcotics and a firearm concealed in the vehicle. During a subsequent search, Officers located a second firearm and additional controlled substances. The man was ultimately arrested for four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. All items were seized as evidence and will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Crime Lab for analysis. Pending lab results, this case will be submitted to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration.

Finally, an ill-timed sneeze resulted in a vehicle accident on the interstate Saturday afternoon. A woman explained she had been traveling in the southbound lanes when she sneezed. Upon looking back up to the roadway, she discovered traffic had slowed. She was unable to stop and collided with the vehicle in front of her. Her car sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

The second driver stated she had been slowing for traffic congestion ahead of her when she was suddenly struck from behind. Thankfully, neither driver was injured in the crash.
