Thankfully, no one was injured.

A short time later, witnesses reported a man was behaving suspiciously and had exposed himself while urinating in the open at a construction site near Taylor Park. Responding Officers found the man seated at a table in the park. As Officers spoke with him, they repeatedly instructed him to identify himself, but he refused. He was subsequently arrested for Urinating in Public and Failure to Comply. Officers later confirmed his identity using the state-issued ID card he had in his wallet. He has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.

Walgreens employees called that night for assistance with a man who was attempting to shoplift. As he arrived on the scene, a CPD Officer witnessed one of the men push an employee as he attempted to leave the store with a cart filled with over $500 in merchandise. With assistance from the Richmond Heights Police Department, the man was arrested, and the stolen merchandise was recovered from the shopping cart and the man’s backpack. During a search of the man’s property, Officers recovered drug paraphernalia from his backpack. The case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the man was charged with Stealing and Resisting Arrest. A cash-only bond was set at $20,000.00.

According to bank employees, the account was linked to a company based in Kansas City and was closed in 2025 due to fraudulent activity. The resident has no known ties to the company and is unsure when or how his personal information was compromised. The investigation continues.

Officers returned to Walgreens on Sunday night, April 5th, after employees reported a man had attempted to steal items from the store. While talking to the man, Officers learned he had several warrants for his arrest, including a felony charge through the St. Louis County Police Department for failure to appear related to stealing over 750$. Last month, we reported that the CPD Business Officer had been notified that someone had stolen items from a café located in an office building in the 200 block of S. Bemiston. The property manager contacted him again to report that the same suspect had returned multiple times and stolen additional merchandise. Each time, the suspect fled the scene before Officers arrived. On Friday evening, April 10th, we received another report that the suspect had returned. This time, the café’s general manager had been on the scene and provided a description of the suspect’s clothing.

From his previous investigation, the CPD Business Officer knew the suspect had used public transportation to travel to and from Clayton. Responding Officers found the suspect at the nearby bus station and took him into custody on four counts of Burglary 1st degree. It was then that they learned he was a sixteen-year-old juvenile and discovered he was wanted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for Burglary 1st degree, Property Damage 1st degree, and Burglary 2nd degree. The Juvenile was released to the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center and remains in their custody.

CVS employees contacted the CPD late Friday night for assistance with a woman who was attempting to conceal merchandise. When confronted by Officers, the woman claimed she had gotten the items from Goodwill. She was arrested without incident and issued a summons for shoplifting. She has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court. While she was in our custody, Officers learned she was also wanted by the St. Louis County Police Department for shoplifting. Their warrant was confirmed, and she was transported to the St. Louis County Justice Center.

Finally, Officers responded to the central business district for an assault report Saturday afternoon. The victim stated she had been seated in her parked vehicle when an unfamiliar woman approached and asked her for a cigarette and spare change. When she informed her she had neither, the woman punched her in the face. Responding Officers found the woman nearby and arrested her for Assault 4th degree. It should be noted that she was identified as the same woman who had been arrested for trespassing at the library earlier in the week.
