Publish Date:04/20/2026 11:00 AM

For the reporting period of Monday, April 13th – Sunday, April 19th, your CPD Officers responded to 444 calls for service, including 20 vehicle crashes and 47 requests to assist other agencies. Among those calls were the following incidents:

Residents of the Tanglewood neighborhood were in for a surprise when their power went out early on Monday morning. An investigation showed a vehicle crossed the center median on Forest Park Parkway and flipped over a guardrail. It then struck a nearby electric pole, causing the outage. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A resident contacted the CPD after finding a cellphone discarded in Shaw Park on Tuesday morning. The phone was locked, and officers could not determine its owner. It has been placed into evidence for safekeeping. If you believe it is yours, please call (314)645-3000.

Last week, we reported that a woman was arrested multiple times for trespassing at the library. On Tuesday afternoon, she returned. Library staff found her smoking in the parking garage and contacted the CPD for assistance. She was again arrested for trespassing and received another summons through the Clayton Municipal Court.

A woman reported she had been driving southbound on Topton at Maryland Ave. on Wednesday night when she was struck by a vehicle driving eastbound on Maryland Ave. Thankfully, no one was injured in the collision. Both vehicles were later towed from the scene.

On Friday afternoon, a man reported he had been walking across S. Meramec Ave. in the crosswalk when he was struck by a car that turned from Carondelet Ave. The collision forced him onto the vehicle's hood and caused non-life-threatening injuries. The driver explained she was distracted by her GPS and did not see the man in the crosswalk. EMS personnel assessed the man on the scene, but he refused further medical attention. The driver was uninjured and later drove her vehicle from the scene.

Last week, we reported that a weed whacker had been stolen from a St. Louis County vehicle. The theft was caught on a nearby surveillance camera, and the suspect was later identified. On Friday afternoon, April 17th, the man contacted the CPD Business Officer by phone. He admitted to the theft and agreed to turn himself in. A few hours later, he arrived at the CPD with the stolen weed whacker. He was arrested for Burglary from a Motor Vehicle, a felony, and Stealing. The case will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for consideration.

CVS employees confronted a man trying to shoplift from the store late Friday night. The man dropped the merchandise and ran toward the Galleria. There, he was arrested on an active warrant in our jurisdiction for shoplifting. Additional investigation revealed he had given false information about his identity. He was wanted by several departments, including the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, for Tampering 1st degree, and faced charges in Richmond Heights for Stealing, Trespassing, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was given a court date for his Clayton charges and released to RHPD Officers.

Finally, Sunday afternoon, a woman reported she had been exiting a parking lot at Forsyth Blvd. and Wallace Dr. when she struck a bicyclist in the crosswalk. The cyclist reported that the vehicle hit his leg and pushed his bicycle toward Forsyth Blvd. He complained of leg and shoulder pain and was transported to a local urgent care for treatment.

Anyone with information about these or other investigations is asked to contact the CPD at (314)645-3000. Until next week, stay safe!
