Officers responded to a local business for a report of someone flourishing a weapon on Tuesday morning. Witnesses explained that what began as an argument between a man and his adult son quickly escalated when the father displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot his son. When Officers spoke with the man, he admitted he had assaulted his son by hitting him on the head with his firearm. Based on his admission and the witness statements, the Officers arrested the man. The case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was issued for one count of Unlawful Use of Weapon - Subsection 4 – Exhibiting. He is currently being held on a $75,000.00 cash only, no 10% bond.
A man reported he had been walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of S. Brentwood Blvd. and Francis Place on Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle. That afternoon, Officers were called to the southbound lanes of I-170 for a multi-vehicle crash. A woman explained she had been driving in the southbound lanes when traffic ahead of her suddenly came to a stop. She attempted to stop but could not avoid a collision with the vehicle directly in front of her. She stated that her car was then struck from behind by a third vehicle. The driver of the third vehicle had left the scene before the Officers arrived, and had not attempted to exchange any contact or insurance information. Neither of the remaining two drivers reported any injuries, and both refused medical attention. Both vehicles remained operable and were driven from the scene. The investigation into the third vehicle continues.
A woman reported driving westbound on Clayton Rd. at Big Bend Thursday morning when her vehicle was struck by a car turning into the northbound lanes. Her vehicle overturned onto the passenger side. She was transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle stated she had begun to turn from the eastbound lanes onto Big Bend. She explained her electric signal had been green. However, she could not recall whether she had a green arrow. She stated she had not been injured in the crash and refused medical attention. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
In March, we reported that a vehicle had been stolen from the north end of town. Early Friday morning, Officers learned that the vehicle had been recovered in the City of St. Louis. An Officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department had discovered the vehicle abandoned in the 4800 block of Lee Ave. The vehicle had sustained minor exterior damage, and the license plates and keys were missing. The investigation continues.
Later that morning, a resident responded to the CPD to report she was a victim of identity theft. She explained she had received a call from a collections agency in the early spring, and the representative had informed her she had defaulted on a credit card bill totaling nearly $5,000. She explained that she had not applied for the card in question and learned that someone had used her personal identification information to fraudulently authorize a stranger to use it. The card and billing statements had been sent to addresses in Illinois and Ohio. Our resident explained she has no connection to those addresses and has never authorized anyone to use her credit cards. Prior to reporting the fraud, the woman had already closed the account, alerted the credit bureaus, and placed a fraud alert on her personal information. No suspects or witnesses were identified. The investigation continues.
A short time later, a property manager reported a man was refusing to leave the lobby of an office building in the 7700 block of Bonhomme. Upon their arrival, Officers learned the man had left the lobby but had remained on the property without permission. When Officers confronted the man, he became argumentative. He insisted he had been in the building for legitimate business purposes but refused to provide an ID or provide proof that he had not been trespassing. The man continued to refuse to comply with the Officers, and when they attempted to place him in handcuffs, he physically resisted by running into the roadway, causing a risk to himself and others. When the man attempted to enter a nearby taxi cab, the Officers safely took him into custody. He was issued summonses for Trespassing, Failure to Comply, Resisting Arrest, and Interference with Traffic. He has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.
