For the reporting period of Monday, June 15th – Sunday, June 21st, your CPD officers responded to 455 calls for service. Those calls included 20 vehicle crashes and 57 requests to assist other agencies. Among those calls were the following incidents:
Officers responded to the 8000 block of Davis Place for a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of a crash on Monday afternoon. The reporting party stated she had parked her vehicle on the street on Sunday night. When she returned Monday morning, she discovered fresh damage to the driver’s side of her car, with the sideview mirror shattered. No suspects or witnesses have been identified. The investigation continues.
On Monday evening, two children reported that a man, later identified as 27-year-old Brenden T. Tucker, had inappropriately touched them while they were in the pool at the Shaw Park Aquatic Center. The children told Officers that Tucker had been interacting with several juveniles when he approached the victims underwater and touched their genitals through their swimsuits. Based on the information they gathered at the scene, Officers arrested him without incident.
Clayton Detectives presented the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office this morning, and a warrant was issued for two counts of Child Molestation 2nd Degree – Child less than 12 years of age, Class B felonies. Tucker remains in custody on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
Tucker is known to frequent the Shaw Park Aquatic Center, and there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet come forward. While on patrol late Monday night, a CPD Officer noticed a street sign in the roadway in the northbound lanes of S. Brentwood Blvd., near Francis Place. Upon closer inspection, he found heavy debris in both the northbound and southbound lanes, and determined the traffic sign had originally been bolted to a concrete median. The sign had broken from the base, and the concrete base was lying in the southbound lanes along with a headlight and debris from a Silver Volkswagen. The vehicle was found parked and unoccupied in the CVS parking lot. Officers spoke with CVS management, who stated the driver had explained he had been involved in a crash and had asked for permission to park the vehicle in the lot. Officers towed the vehicle from the lot.
On Tuesday, the teenage driver responded to the CPD, where he informed Officers that he had damaged his vehicle after striking a curb Monday night. The driver was subsequently issued a summons for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.
A woman responded to the CPD on Wednesday, reporting that she had been a victim of a scam. She explained she had received a phone call from someone who claimed she had missed jury duty. The fraudster told her a warrant had been issued for her arrest, but stated the charges could be dismissed if she paid a fine. She stated she had unfortunately transferred funds via Bitcoin before realizing the call was likely a scam. The case has been reported to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center. That evening, Officers responded to the 6400 block of Alamo for a single-vehicle crash. A woman reported she had been driving westbound on Alamo when she observed a man lying unconscious in the middle of the road. Officers learned the man had lost control of his minibike and was knocked unconscious when he fell from the vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation of his injuries. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.
Officers were called to a disturbance stemming from a parking dispute in the central business district on Thursday Morning. A woman explained she had been attempting to park her vehicle in a recently vacated space in a public parking lot. At the time, she had observed a line of people waiting to use the parking pay station directly in front of her parking space. One of those individuals, a woman, had been standing at the front of the parking space, but she had moved when the reporting party pulled her vehicle into the spot. As she continued to park, another driver exited his SUV, approached her vehicle, and kicked her driver’s side door, damaging it. She later learned he was the son of the woman who had been standing in the parking space.
The second woman stated that she had been standing in the parking space to save it for her son. She claimed the reporting party struck her with her vehicle, forcing her from the parking space. However, witnesses independently reported the woman had never been struck by a vehicle. The driver of the SUV admitted kicking the vehicle in retaliation for his mother being forced to vacate the parking space. He was subsequently arrested for Property Damage. This case will be presented to the St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration.
That afternoon, CVS employees contacted the CPD to request assistance with a customer. Employees explained that a woman had been standing outside the Pharmacy drive-up window and yelling at employees and customers. They stated the disturbance began when the pharmacy staff informed the woman that they could not refill her prescription without her doctor’s approval. As the officers approached the woman in the parking lot, she yelled at them and became increasingly belligerent and non-compliant. A computer inquiry revealed the woman had been trespassed from the store in 2025. She was subsequently arrested for Trespassing, Peace Disturbance, and Drinking in Public. She has an upcoming court date through the Clayton Municipal Court.
A CPD Officer was monitoring traffic on Big Bend Blvd. late Saturday morning when her attention was drawn to a passenger vehicle driving in the northbound lanes. The vehicle lacked a license plate, and one of the rear windows had been broken. The Officer initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, who claimed he had recently purchased the car. A computer inquiry revealed he was wanted by the St. Louis County Police Department for Harassment and by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) for Assault 4th, and his passenger was wanted by the SLMPD for Domestic Assault 4th. The warrants were confirmed as active, and both men were arrested.
That afternoon, Officers responded to the interstate for a crash with injuries. One of the drivers stated she had been driving in the southbound lanes of I-170 when traffic ahead came to a stop. She stated she had attempted to stop but was unable to avoid striking the rear of the vehicle in front of her. The force of the crash deployed both front airbags. Her passenger reported she was experiencing minor knee pain and difficulty breathing because of the crash. She was evaluated by EMS personnel but refused further medical attention.
The second driver stated that he had come to a stop due to congestion ahead and had been rear-ended. He and his passenger were evaluated on the scene by EMS personnel and refused further medical attention. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were later towed from the scene.
Finally, Officers responded to the 300 block of Gay Ave. on Saturday evening for a reported vehicle theft. A man explained that he had parked his vehicle in the lot at Gay Field on Saturday afternoon and placed his keys in a duffel bag, which he had taken to the field level. He explained that he had participated in a soccer game and, after the game, returned to the lot, where he discovered his vehicle was missing and his keys were no longer in his duffel bag. He recalled seeing a group of teens playing football nearby and stated they had left before his game had concluded. Neither he nor the other soccer players had observed anyone tampering with his bag or his vehicle.
He later received an alert from his credit card company advising him that someone had attempted to use his card to make an unauthorized purchase. That night, Officers were notified that the vehicle had been recovered in St. Louis City when it was abandoned after a crash. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was no longer operable. The victim’s wallet was found inside the vehicle, and his credit card appeared to be the only item that was missing. The investigation continues.
