Sealed bids for the Sidewalk & Pavement Disaster Restoration - FY25. Project will be received by the City of Clayton, 10 N. Bemiston Avenue, Clayton, MO  63105-3397, until 2:00 P.M. on July 28th, 2025. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately following in City Hall Council Chambers, 2nd floor, 10 N. Bemiston Avenue, Clayton, MO  63105-3397.

The Scope of Work consists of the removal and replacement of sidewalks, sections of curb and gutter, driveway aprons, asphalt pavement, grading and restoration at various locations damaged by the Tornado that hit the City of Clayton on May 16th, 2025. Exact locations have been listed in the bid package and further locations maybe determined during construction. Traffic control and other incidental items shall be included as shown in the specifications.

An optional pre-bid meeting will be held July 16th, 2025 at 2:00 PM in City Hall Conference Room A, 1st floor, 10 N Bemiston Ave, Clayton, MO.

Not less than the prevailing hourly rate of wages shall be paid to all workers performing under this Contract in this area, according to the rates determined by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations of the State of Missouri.

A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.

The City reserves the right to accept or reject any bid and to waive any irregularities in the best interest of the City.

 Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Is the contractor responsible for the removal of tree limbs or any deleterious material in Right of Way?

Ans:

Refer to Section 200.4.4 in the Bid Package: Excavation: Complete all excavation regardless of the type, nature, or condition of the materials encountered.  The Contractor shall make his own estimate of the kind and extent of the various materials to be excavated in order to accomplish the work.

The Contractor is responsible for establishing healthy SOD. The contractor is responsible for watering the SOD until final acceptance by the City.

Question 2: Can a separate line item for the Sodding be included in the Bid Form?

Ans:

Yes, we can add a separate line item for the Sodding, the approximate quantities of Sodding required will be added to the Bid form. Reference Addendum#1.

Question 3: When is “Notice to proceed” expected to be issued?

Ans:

The Bid Opening is scheduled for July 28th,2025. After which, the city will reach out to the selected contractor. All required documents should be received by August 5th, 2025, which will be presented to the Board of Alderman meeting on August 12th, 2025. After all the contracts have been signed, the “Notice to proceed” is expected to be issued within a week following this meeting.

Question 4: What is the gradation of the 6" Trap Rock Base?

Ans:

Trap Rock Base shall consist of Crushed Granite of Nominal Size of 1 1/2".
