Home MenuGeneral Orders
The Clayton Police Department is committed to transparency and accountability and is pleased to provide public access to our General Orders. These General Orders establish the policies and procedures that guide department employees in carrying out our mission in a professional, ethical, and lawful manner. All personnel are expected to be familiar with and adhere to these standards.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the nation’s primary accrediting authority for law enforcement, reviews both our General Orders and our compliance with them as part of a comprehensive assessment conducted every three years. This review is a key component in maintaining our accredited status.
Our purpose for making our General Orders publicly available is to demonstrate that the Clayton Police Department operates under clearly defined guidelines that promote integrity, accountability, and public trust. Certain General Orders are listed by title only, as they contain sensitive operational information that, if released, could compromise officer safety. Questions regarding these policies may be submitted in writing to Lt. Jack Abell at jabell@claytonmo.gov.
