Residents who would like to request new or modification to existing on-street parking regulations on their block should write a letter to the Director of Public Works (10 N. Bemiston, Clayton MO 63105). Please be as specific as possible with the request and note the following:
- A brief description of the problem
- Street or streets and their block numbers that are affected
- Day or days of the week the problem occurs
- Times of the day the problem occurs
- Belief as to what is the cause of the concern
Public Works staff will review the request, and if warranted, the Police Department will observe the parking situation for up to a two week period and report their findings back to Public Works. If the Police Department’s observations validate the requestor’s concern, Public Works will distribute a survey asking for feedback from adjacent property owners/residents on a proposed, 90 day trial, on-street parking restriction.
If the feedback from the adjacent property owners/residents supports the proposed on-street parking restrictions, Public Works will notify them when the trial on-street parking restriction signage is to be posted and enforced.
Near the conclusion of the trial period, a survey will be distributed to the adjacent property owners/residents asking for their feedback on the on-street parking restrictions. If a majority of property owners/residents are in favor of the on-street parking restrictions, the Public Works Department will request that the item be place placed on a Board of Aldermen Agenda as an amendment to the Traffic Code to make the changes permanent. Public Works will notify the adjacent property owners/residents of the proposed amendment to encourage public input prior to the Board of Alderman taking action.
