The City of Clayton has multiple projects each year that address ADA  (Americans with Disabilities Act) related obstacles. Below is an annually reoccurring projects that Public Works has to address these obstacles. Additionally, we have a restoration project to address the damaged areas caused by a Tornado that hit Clayton on May 16th, 2025.

ADA Improvements Project

Summary

This capital improvement program serves to address ADA items (sidewalk, curb ramps, etc...) throughout the City of Clayton each year with funding allocated in the yearly budget. The Public Works Department utilizes our ADA transition plan, visual inspections and citizen reports to prioritize repairs on a "worst first" basis which is determined by the condition and location of the sidewalk.

The City has awarded the contract for ADA Improvements Fiscal Year 2026 to Kingsland Concrete Construction, LLC. Construction will begin with work on various sidewalks throughout the city. Street closures are not expected, but work will take place in the easements of various sidewalks sections. 

Project Schedule

The crews are expected to begin work the week of February 2nd in the CBD area.  Work will progress to different areas throughout the City over the course of the spring and summer.

Sidewalk & Pavement Disaster Restoration FY25

Summary

This project consists of the removal and replacement of sidewalks, curb and gutter sections, driveway apron sections, asphalt pavement sections, grading and restoration at various locations throughout the Public ROW that were damaged by a Tornado that hit the City of Clayton on May 16th, 2025.

The Bid opening was held on July 28th,2025.The City has awarded the contract to Kingsland Concrete Construction, LLC. Construction will begin the week of August 18th,2025. Street closures are not expected, but work will take place in the easements of various sidewalks sections & the contractor will require access to the various damaged sections.
