The City has secured federal funding for the resurfacing of Maryland Ave. from Hanley Road to the western City limits. Design is in progress and construction is currently planned for 2020.
Right of way plans have been approved by MoDOT and authority has been given to begin acquiring property. Letters will be going out to impacted property owners over the coming weeks to notify them of the proposed improvements and the easements we will be looking to acquire.
East West Gateway has granted a 9 month extension on this project and funding will need to be obligated by June 30, 2020. Construction is planned to take place in 2020.
Conceptual Design Timeline
August 28, 2018 - The Board of Aldermen decided to proceed with installing shared lane markings from Gay to Forsyth (no change to travel lanes), and protected bike lanes from Forsyth to Hanley. The selected segments are circled below. Below is also a link to the presentation from the BOA meeting. Preliminary plans are now under development to be submitted to MoDOT.
August 14, 2018 - A presentation is planned for the Board of Alderman discussion session from 6-7pm (slides below). Based on feedback from the last BOA meeting the below options are being presented for consideration. The traffic impacts associated with these options will also be presented. Staff and design team will hold an informal open house/Q&A session from 5-6pm prior to the discussion session for anyone interested. May 1, 2018 - Comments from the open house are being reviewed by the engineers and staff. We plan to provide an update to the BOA and submit preliminary plans to MoDOT by June/July. Upon MoDOT approval, detailed design and preparation of Right of Way plans will take place. Any property acquisition is anticipated to take place in the fall of 2018 with construction planned for 2019.
April 11, 2018 - A second Open House is scheduled for 4/11, from 5-7PM, at the Center of Clayton. The purpose of this meeting is to share options developed (based on feedback received from the public at the previous open house) and receive input from the public on these options (shared lane markings and buffered bike lanes). January 23, 2018 - Preliminary design and concepts and under evaluation which include feedback from the public.
August 8, 2017 - A Public Input Request/Open House will be held on Thursday, 9/7/17, from 5-7pm at the Center of Clayton, 50 Gay Avenue, Clayton, MO.
August 2017 - Residents can expect to see survey crews onsite over the coming weeks to collect data on the existing site conditions to use in design of the project.
